This morning marks the second birthday of KilkennyMusic.com and while we mail out the press releases for next week’s papers we want to say THANK YOU to YOU - all who visit the site, all who have been involved with KKM over the past two years from guests at the One Take Sessions to bands local and national, those of you who attend the gigs, those of you who get involved in the forum and everyone we’ve worked with over the last two years.

We’ve been working tirelessly on a lot of fronts over the past two years, getting the live monthly gigs going, getting the One Take Sessions off the ground, working with a wide variety of bands and acts, working with the Arts Office here in Kilkenny who saw fit to include us in their grant funding in 2006 and earlier this year, to now working with ArtLinks to develop some professional development courses for musicians in Kilkenny and outward to Wicklow.

We’ve quietly been making way in Carlow having travelled to assist in a number of night time and all ages gigs this year while soft-launching CarlowMusic.com recently as well which is under the helm of Ross and Mickey.

This year saw us nominated as Best Music Blog in the 2007 Irish Blog Awards, a great achievement for us considering the element nominated was live only a few short months. We’re expanding to Waterford at the end of this year before kicking off a national project for 2008.

In marking our second year on the go in Kilkenny we’re also fundraising for the purchase of some video equipment and would love your assistance - or alternatively if you know of sponsors who would be interested in backing the project, dubbed simply Kilkenny Music TV (KMTV). We’ve got gigs booked into 2008 and we’ve more to come yet this year - Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters are up on October 13th, an intimate acoustic appearance by the Guggenheim Grotto on October 19th, the One Take Sessions on October 25th, Vesta Varro on November 10th and of course our end of year Christmas Party in December.

We might be two years on the go but we’re only getting started. From each of us here at KilkennyMusic.com to everyone who’s been involved over the last two years, thank you very much and here’s to so much more for the coming year!
