Spotlight: Adela Meally

Adela Meally takes to the stage this coming Saturday with the Tortured Artists Social Club headlining the night. We had Adela appear at the One Take Sessions back on January 25th for a lengthy set (at the time, two acts dropped out so it was down to herself and myself to play on the night). One of my favourite nights of the Sessions and one of KKM’s favourite performers on the scene at the moment, Adela makes a welcome return to Kilkenny this weekend.
Adela Meally hails from Cullahill, Co. Laois but has strong family ties to Kilkenny. New to the scene, her songs are getting more and more airplay, with John Creedon of RTE Radio 1 describing Party for Three as “Fantastic stuff … hit written all over it” and Michelle Harding from RTE’s Acoustic Highway also giving it a spin and highly recommending it… A review from the Tipperary Star describes her music as “Shockingly good” and most recently, KCLR are playing the single several times a day.
So far Adela has played support to John Spillane, Eleanor McEvoy and Arthur Ebeling. The live shows are driven by nylon string guitar and harmonica with Dominic Chappell accompanying Adela on bass guitar.
Adela has featured on two Sound System Podcast, first the One Take Sessions review from her January 25th appearance (features a live version of ‘Party For Three’ before it went to the studio) and most recently on podcast #22 with the track Sleazy Louis.
Don’t miss out - Tortured Artists Social Club and Adela Meally this Saturday night, doors 9:45pm in Cleere’s Theatre, Kilkenny with Adela taking to the stage at 10pm. A five euro cover charge applies on the door. Don’t miss out!
(And yeah, Boo will kill everyone who’s not there to help him celebrate his birthday, so now you HAVE to go!)
