Well, That Was Fun

The One Take Sessions are over and done with for March 8th. We had our first night with real technical difficulties (you’ve got to come across it at some stage) that lead to a 15 minute delay to the start and one of the acts re-starting a song twice as they couldn’t hear the monitor mix and second with a guitar lead just coming and going as it planned.

Note to bands - we supply a terrific amount of equipment for this gigs at great expense, and we’ve been privileged to receive grant assistance in 2006 to fund some of this equipment but if you can have a jack lead with you and know your own guitar works live before you get on stage then thats always a help too!

Despite the few hiccups the acts were deadly, Jack O’Leary is some man for one man. Honest to God if you get to see him live soon go and pay the man a visit - he simply won’t disappoint. A fantastic catalog of original music which into his last song managed to sneak AHA’s ‘Take On Me’ much to the delight of the crowd.

Ross Kearley is just magic, and serious kudos to Alison for her backing vocals, the compliment needs to be seen to be believed (or at least buy his new album, ‘Fall Of Icarus’), the lads had a busy night in the music club in Clonmel on Wednesday before dropping into us last night and got a massive reception. The Pacifix were up next who had been looking for a slot since January but due to the popularity of the Sessions (next March date and April dates fully booked already, bookings now taken for May and June) we couldn’t get them in until last night. A solid set, bar a stop-start in the middle, before Inconclusive took to the stage. Its been a while since we had a few covers but the lads gave it socks and knocked out a setlist including ‘Stand By Me’ by Oasis and ‘Fly Away’ by Lenny Kravitz.

A late night (didn’t finish until after 12) leads into a weekend we’re trying to keep quiet! No KKM events this weekend so we’ll likely be lurking around the town to catch a few gigs or try and keep a low profile this weekend. I know I’m sneaking off anyway to catch some music over the west, spread the good word.

Guess I should also apologise to Matt, I fell victim to my own joke and I swear that certificate is on the way - before this gets waaaaay out of hand!

Cheers to all who turned out for the night and hope to see y’all again for the next run out.
