The regular monthly metal night held by Kilkenny Metal Promotions has been postponed (well, the bands that were set to feature anyway). Due to circumstances beyond the control of the acts and promoters, Kilkenny won’t be seeing an appearance by Dublin metal act 23 this weekend coming.
KilkennyMusic.com had been talking to guitarist Barney (ex-Clergy) during the week in the run up to the gig with the hope that it would go ahead and we’d all get to catch up. We weren’t involved in the gig or anything but with Barney and the Clergy crew having practically lived in Kilkenny in 2006 (Clergy gigging no less than seven occasions last year) its always good to keep tabs on how bands are still going or where band members wound up.
The mention on the phone of dropped-A tuned guitars would give you an indication of the darkness of 23’s music, something they won’t get to show off this weekend but hopefully they’ll be able to make it down over the summer. They will however be playing the Spirit Store in Dundalk on Saturday June 9th (same day we have Reemo and Secret Police to Kilkenny).
One thing that certainly isn’t canceled is our own show with Innate, Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters and Mantra - don’t forget, doors 9:30pm, Saturday night in Cleere’s Theatre - be there!
