The Strats are an Ireland-based blues duo with a classic no-frills approach. And in that, they go some way to tapping into what the genre is all about. In conversaton, their guitarist Will Ludford, is achingly honest about the problems of touring with a live band, and the financial practicalities of doing so - his answer being to strip it back to the “essentials”; himeslf, his guitar, a keyboard player - Nigel Brannigan, a mic and a drum machine. Well the blues always was about survival, making it through whatever right? Or did I miss a meeting?
