Don’t come back to me after the weekend saying there was no music on or you couldn’t find a gig. Tonight alone sees seven acts in three different venues with us trying to catch all seven (lets see how that goes!).
Up first we’ve got Acrojunk (Waterford) and Deaf Animal Orchestra who’ll be rocking out good and loud in the Elbow Room upstairs in the Pumphouse. Acrojunk we’ve seen before and are well worth catching - great, solid tunes and a good frontman in Rob O’Connor as well. Last time around they had a new band member with them who just by coincidence happened to be wearing the band uniform of blue jeans and cons but clothing aside it’s their music that makes them stand out.
The same can be said for Deaf Animal Orchestra (Waterford) who we’ve featured before on the podcast and as video of the week earlier this week. They’ve just released their new single ‘Falling Asleep / Morning Running’ and are sure to entertain tonight. Grab it on iTunes if you can.
Across the road in The Zoo it’s “dropped A all the way” as mentioned on the podcast earlier this week as Dublin hardcore metallers ‘23‘ take to the stage with two bands in support (Cronus being one of them). It’s been a while since the 23 lads were in Kilkenny and the earplugs will be in the pocket for this one (until I get in the door anyway). Daw is on the desk for this one and there might be a few photos up after the weekend if Ross makes it down.
Back over the road again to Cleere’s and we’ve got Don Mescall and Adela Meally there, Adela joining Don on his current Irish tour. Tickets are €12 and we’re only guessing that they’re high in demand, such is the calibre of both acts, such is the following that Don Mescall as around these parts as well.
Doors open for all gigs around the 9pm mark, the Acrojunk / D.A.O. gig likely to kick off around the 10 mark with the Pumphouse and The Zoo likely costing a fiver a piece.
