Twas the night before Dolly Parton, when all through Kilkenny, not a creature was stirring, except in the PUMPHOUSE! Roll up, roll up for the musical circus that only ACROJUNK and DEAF ANIMAL ORCHESTRA can provide. Their last two shows in Kilkenny have been complete rippers and this SATURDAY NIGHT (21st June), so if you’re looking for something to get you in the mood for Dolly, look no further!
Waterford’s ACROJUNK have been busy little bees since we last saw them. Their latest single STEVE AUSTIN is ready to go for an August release, when the unsuspecting Irish public will hear their unique musings on 1970s bionic TV shows. Their previous single, the Divine Comedy-esque GENERATION X-SQUARED spent 4 weeks in the downloadmusic.ie top 10. They are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album BRICOLAGE, which will be released later this year. You can catch a sneak preview of their next single up on www.myspace.com/acrojunk
DEAF ANIMAL ORCHESTRA have been plying their simian musical wares throughout the country over the past few months, most notable as part of the IMRO showcase tour. You can expect to hear a lot of these rockers over the next few months as they have a slew of releases lined up from their Jam Studio sessions with producer extraordinaire and former Turn bassist Martin Quinn. They’re constantly adding tunes and rants online, which show there’s a lot more to these monkeys than meets the eye. Check them out on www.myspace.com/deafanimalorchestra
So on Saturday 21st, get yourself down to The Pumphouse and listen up to some great new tunes. You can probably expect an auld Dolly cover or two. “Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jooolleeeeeeeneeeee ….”
