Electric Picnic Gets Bloody

We’re getting closer and closer to the announcement of the first bulk of acts due to hit Electric Picnic this summer. The 2008 festival runs August 29-31st in Stradbally and is being hyped as “bigger than ever”.

All the early bird tickets were sold out and organisers had said before Christmas that we’d see the lineup in February. Well, we’re nearly half way through the month and although the full lineup hasn’t yet been released, My Bloody Valentine were confirmed today.

You think they would have waited until tomorrow to make the announcement…. pffft.

Anyway, My Bloody Valentine are a cert to appear at the festival, as well as playing out a string of European gig dates over the summer. Not only that but they’ll have a new studio album to back the tour as well. The majority of their own headline shows (see official site or myspace) are sold out across the UK but for a band who hasn’t gigged in an absolute AGE, they should be a welcome gem at the ‘Picnic.
