Cancelled: Official Dysart Festival Press Statement
This one in the mail yesterday afternoon, sorry about the delay!
It is with great disappointment that the organisers of the Dysart Festival, due to take place in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August, have announced that the event will no longer take place as scheduled. Sadly, there has been an insufficient level of ticket sales to enable a viable inaugural event at Dysart Castle.
An alternative event will now take place at a location which has yet to be confirmed. Full details of these arrangements will be announced as soon as they become available.
Festival ticket holders will of course receive a complete refund if they wish. By way of thank you for the support those ticket holders showed, a special package to the alternative event is being arranged.
Dysart Festival organisers would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to all the music fans who purchased tickets, the artists involved and to the local community who have endeavoured to make the festival a success.

Is this for real
The Dysart Festival Website has no information about cancellation
What’s going on? I have a weekend camping ticket for two, total €282.50, including booking fee, and haven’t had a dickie bird from the organisers. They were quick enough to take my money and mail me a confirmation the night before cancelling the event, but nothing about how to claim my refund now. And that’s not taking into account the non-refundable deposit for the hotel we booked once we realised that the rain was here for the rest of the month….
@Tony - Yes, this is for real. Though we’re waiting on word still for the replacement venue for a number of acts including The Blind Boys Of Alabama.
@Deirdre - As soon as we know more (am expecting announcements this morning) we’ll be updating the site with news.
All I can say is what they’ve issued to the press, in that anyone seeking a refund will be refunded, that’s all I know at present - Ken
I strongly suggest you take down that banner ad from your website if you don’t want to get caught in the legal actions that many are no doubt considering. The Dysart festival website is STILL taking credit card bookings with no indication that the event is cancelled.
Rearranged gigs now on website with reduced prices but no Juliet Turner, which was the draw, along with the Blind Boys. We had booked a hotel in Thomastown, not sure we’d get anywhere in Kilkenny now and may look for my refund. Thanks for responding.
