Having passed the 50 mark a month ago, we’re onto show 54 this week. It’s a One Take Sessions special with highlights from last Thursday night featuring Nick Day, Shane Barry & The Distractions, ReClaim and Ginosko. In case you missed it on Wednesday / Thursday, Sound System Podcast #53 is out and about, it’s been sitting in the MP3 player on the homepage the last few days but I’ve only gotten around to pushing it to the news now.
There’s music on this week’s podcast from Steffen Coonan, The Urges, The Pulpit and West Of Eden.
Myself and Mickey are taking on Sound System Podcast 52 tonight, recording in around two hours time (say 5:30pm). It’s your last chance to get any news, tidbits of information or music in for the show..
Drop an email to podcast@kilkennymusic.com with your details.
So some of the gremlins are gone, there’s a change in the hosting lineup and we’ve got a One Take Sessions special for this week’s podcast. Mickey rejoins the podcast and will be taking to the mic for the next few weeks as well as Ross ties up exams and the likes. A happy birthday too to Mr. Costigan who gets to celebrate his birthday with at least a deserving night off!
Yes, the Sound System Podcast returns for the 51st show in the series and we’re looking back at the One Take Sessions from last Thursday night which featured Cian O’Sullivan, Rob O’Connor, Rich Wyman and Bright Light Fiasco.

The next available slot at the One Take Sessions, as Mickey points out on this podcast, is now October 2nd. We’re hitting a milestone podcast tonight as the Sound System Podcast finally reaches show #50. I’d love to say we’ve got tons of special guests in the studio, loads of CDs to give away, free tickets to some of the summers hottest gigs and loads more besides but you’ll likely get all the usual stuff - local and national gig news, crazy ramblings, some great independent Irish music and plenty of chat about… well, something!
The podcast should (hopefully) be online at some stage tonight or early tomorrow morning. You can listen to past shows by seeking out the podcast in the iTunes store or by visiting SoundSystemPodcast.com.
The show is a little shorter again this week (well, shorter than the usual 45 minute run anyway) as I’m flying solo for the evening. You’ll get music from Aortal, Jimmy Behan, Myp Et Jeep and The Most Serene Republic tonight so keep an eye out after 9pm!
9pm update: Podcast now live, listen or download below!
The 49th Sound System Podcast records tonight and if you’ve got anything to add, comment on, promote or plug then you’ve got until 7pm tonight to get your details in.
All you’ve to do is email podcast@kilkennymusic.com and we’ll look after the rest.
You’ll get a live track from each of Joey Ryan, Bonnefires, Nassau Royal and John O’Hanlon (order of the night) as well as a few tidbits for your weekend in a shorter 25 minute-ish podcast.
Tonight’s podcast show is a One Take Sessions special, recapping the ‘Sessions from last Thursday night which featured Joey Ryan, Bonnefires, Nassau Royal and John O’Hanlon. If you’ve anything you would like to get included on the podcast, speak now or forever hold your peace! Or piece. Or pizza. Or pie.
