The Smithwicks Cat Laughs comedy festival is well and truely underway. Two of us (myself and Mickey) caught Tommy Tiernan in the Kings Suite at the Ormonde last night and have to say, the new material is damn funny. A serious touch on the controversial side so if you’re of a sensitive build, be warned!

Music in town pretty much all but makes way for comedy barring Mike Got Spiked on Monday afternoon and the Whit Weekend Festival in Thomastown (all music) and over the past two days (Thursday and Friday) there’s been a great buzz about the place.

I’m off to catch Jason Byrne and David O’Doherty tonight before PJ Gallagher tomorrow (yet again) but if you’re sitting at home reading this then get out and get yourself into town! Pretty much all the ticketed shows are sold out, there’s some fringe comedy on in ID (Neptune Comedy Club), the Pumphouse (as far as we know its the Craic House from Cork, good comics) and Ryan’s which plays home to the good folk of the Ha’penny Laugh.

Enjoy it while you can!
