
The first heat of the BOTB 2008 will take place in The Zoo Club, 40 Parliament Street, on Sunday August 17. The second and third heats will follow on August 24th and 31st. Like previous years there will be a short break before the final to allow finalists to prepare a new set to impress the judging panel that will consist of organiser Andrew McGuinness, members of KilkennyMusic.com and a special guest industry judge yet to be announced.
The final will take place on September 21st, however, in the run up to the main event, on September 14, last years winners Atrax Mantis will launch their CD that was recorded as a result of winning the 2007 competition. Recorded in The Mill Studio’s by BOTB and Underground resident engineer, Alan ‘Daw’ Dawson, the CD contains six tracks that are sure to become anthems within the local metal scene.
Sponsors on board so far include Broderick’s Music Warehouse, The Mill Recording Studio’s, Essaness Music, Kilkennymusic.com, Ross Costigan Photography and The Zoo Club. Prizes include a demo recording package, an EP recording package and a website, photography and PR package. All backline equipment will be sponsored by Essaness Music.
Heat 1 on August 17th will include Modern Ric, Desecrate and Joe Had A Stroke. Heat 2 on August 24th will include Decadation,Teratoria and Chaotic Necropolis. Heat 3 on August 31st is yet to be confirmed, however, organisers have earmarked the line up to include Jaded Aces, South and Richard The Lionheart.
