Battle Of The Bands Final Today

The 2007 Battle Of The Bands Final kicks off today at 4pm. You can follow the action here on the forum (don’t forget to leave your thoughts after the day is done) or drop in to the Zoo Club on Parliament Street in Kilkenny from 4pm to catch the four bands in action.

Those bands in question are Atrax Mantis, Decadation, Desecrate and Pitch Black. We’ve gone through four heats so far and its been three weeks since the last heat saw Pitch Black progress to the final. Sure enough, the lineup of bands this year has been lacking in comparison to last year but we’ve got the best lineup for today, four bands that proved they could make it to the final and are worthy contenders for the €3,500+ prizes.

Sponsors this year are as always Hype Entertainment along with ourselves at KilkennyMusic.com, Event Ireland (Kilkenny), The Mill Studio, Essaness Music, Adlib Music and Broderick’s Music Warehouse (and studio), the sponsors combining to offer recording time (The Mill), €1,000 worth of equipment (Essaness), a €700 web professional web development package (Event Ireland), €500 for the ‘bands band’ (Adlib), recording and production time for the ‘best song of the final’ (Broderick’s) and more besides.

Through KilkennyMusic.com we’ve been covering the competition on our weekly podcast show and will hopefully have a few words from the bands and organisers next week, while Ross has been flat out shooting each of the heats for the KilkennyMusic.com gallery.

Some of the bands in this year’s competition we’ll never see again (such is the case) but there’s a select few who are going to take this competition and run with it, hopefully returning next year and going on to bigger and brighter things. Judges for today’s final include myself (Ken), Alan Dawson, Ross Costigan, Mickey ‘Boo’ Keogh and Andrew McGuinness.

The very best of luck to all the bands (we’ve been crowd spotting around town for the morning, who was the big bus load in Dunnes around 1pm?), its been a great competition this year and great to see it get to this stage. Impress the hell out of us and play out of your skin for the day and you’ll do well!
