From the band themselves…
“We set up the Band Teratoria in 2006 , 4 young guys all into similar music and all went to the Gaelscoile in Kilkenny city.First we went for a different line up and had two Bass guitarists in the Band.We struggled to find a drummer but during our practice sessions we wrote 3 songs that we wanted to get on a demo before end of 2006 as we all had Junior cert exams in May 2007.Our original line up was Briain Casey vocals and guitar,Ferdia Bridgeman on lead guitar,Christian Forde on Bass Guitar and Evan Cass on Bass guitar. When we went to record our demo CD in November 2006(we called it the E-Minor Chapter and it has 3 songs) we still had no drummer so a good friend Paul Hindle from Saving J did the drums for us, his experience of recording was also a big help.We got a good response from all our friends and everybody agreed that one of the songs on the demo was excellent “Die in a Dream” which also got played on KCLR.
Early into 2007 and Ferdia Bridgeman and Evan Cass left the band they were more interested into going for heavier metal and then Sean Hawthorn joined the band to take over lead guitar and help with writing songs, that left the band still looking for a drummer and eventually they found a great guy called Alan Byrne who also does backing
vocals all current 4 members of the band are under 16 at present.
The new line
so far has played two gigs in the Annaconda pub thanks to Leonard for the
venue, the first time they were backed by another local band called Mantra
, and for the second gig they were backed by another young local band called
Necromancer. At both gigs they had a good turn-out of maybe 50 fans including
friends and family, but what Teratoria have shown is they can and love to
play to the crowd, the better the response from the audience the better Teratoria
get. Also they have played the Zoo club twice once on a Sunday afternoon with
other bands and the crowd really enjoyed the mash pit.
The new line up has written 4 more songs
and are hoping to record a second demo near the end of August 2007.They have
also entered for battle of the bands for the first time and could be the
out-siders that will win this years competition.
