Crucifracture
Biography
Crucifracture is what the Roman guards would do to end a crucifixion. They would take a spear and swing it like a baseball bat and hit the victim in the shins to break his shinbones. With the shinbone broken, the victim could no longer push up to breathe and would suffocate.
We played together for the first time in January 2004, Red and Sla had been playing together for about a year or so, and were looking for a bass and second guitarist. Neville and Myself (Bob) were in a band already but it wasn’t going to well, so when we heard that the lads were trying to get a metal band going we were delighted to join them. They already had two songs finished and it didn’t take long to see that we worked well together. The first two songs were called ‘Count the Corpses’ and ‘Evil inside’.
It took us a few months to decide on a name, but when we read about the Crucifracture we knew it was perfect. Crucifracture is what the Roman guards would do to end a crucifixion. They would take a spear and swing it like a baseball bat and hit the victim in the shins to break his shinbones. With the shinbone broken, the victim could no longer push up to breathe and would suffocate.
In September 2004 we won the battle of the bands in Kilkenny, the prize was recording in the mill studios Kilkenny. We recorded our Demo/E.P. During the summer of 2005 but were plagued by setbacks. The demo is now recorded and the artwork is completed so finally we are ready to go to print, The demo will hopefully be available by Hallowe’en 2005.
Flash forward to the end of 2006, Crucifracture playing their last gig of that year in November before taking a three month break while continuing developing their own material. The departure of Bob Kelly reduced the band to a three piece and put Red on lead vocals. Crucifracture re-emerged on February 24th 2007 with their first KilkennyMusic.com appearance in support to Waiting For Vega, their first of a long string of gigs for 2007.
2008 sees Crucifracture remain as a three-piece outfit, Rob Kelly returning to the band on guitar and vocal duty with Red departing.
If death metal is your thing then so might be Crucifracture.
