Biography
Formed in March 2004 by Niall O’Regan, Stephen Morton and Neil Quigley, a safe dry place spent their first year together creating textured and layered sounds, using a computer as their canvas.
They soon managed to etch out their first work entitled “This is where we left you stranded in…a safe dry place”, a collection of ambiant, soft tones recorded between August 04 and April 05.
After a year of six note songs and too much reverb, they decided to develop a more accessible live sound, enabling them to exhibit to a larger audience. This brought the addition of Evan Ryan, on trumpet.
A safe dry place took on the first public performance of their newest work “Remove” in July 2005 in Ryans, Kilkenny. Since then, the band have played numerous gigs in and around Kilkenny building a steady following of fans. Late 2006 saw appearances in Cleere’s with David Thompson in support as well as an appearance alongside 3epkano and The Ruby Tail Lights.
