It’s a jungle out there, after all.

Halves Gig Gets A Lot Bigger

The Halves gig we had booked for November 15th just got a lot bigger.
Due to a mix up in dates at the venue the Halves show (last seen at the 2008 Kilkenny Arts Festival) has been merged with the House Of Cosy Cushions show with Problems At The Pancake House.
Both shows were originally to take place on different dates in November but with some chopping and changing in Cleere’s in the last week we’ve now got four bands playing the one date.
With tickets priced at 10 euro, your lineup for November 15th is now Halves (headline), House Of Cosy Cushions (main support), Katie Kim and Beef Supreme. Four acts for your ten bucks with doors open at 9pm should make for a solid night of music.
More on this shortly.
War Of The Worlds Broadcasts This Week

The Devious Theatre Company’s production of HG Wells’ ‘The War Of The Worlds’ airs this Thursday night exclusively on KCLR 96FM.
The local theatre company have been working around the clock on their latest production, their third of 2008.
Welles’ broadcast famously caused widespread hysteria throughout an unsuspecting America. Listeners thought the account of a Martian invasion in rural New Jersey was really happening and it caused unprecedented panic in America. It still remains one of the greatest ever examples of the power of radio and media manipulation over the mass population. Under the impression that America was in the grip of a Martian invasion, people fled their homes and cities in an effort to escape the Martian machines.
The Devious Theatre Company and KCLR96fm would like to avoid any onset of local mass hysteria with their broadcast, which is based in Kilkenny and Carlow, but they hope that the classic tale of a Martian invasion on Earth will keep people excitedly tuned into their radios in the same way it did 70 years ago.
The new version of ‘War of the Worlds’ was written by The Devious Theatre Company and produced by local sound engineer Alan Dawson of the Mill Studios. The cast includes; Ross Costigan, Amy Dunne, Ken McGuire, Kevin Mooney, John Morton, Maria Murray, David Thompson and Paul Young.
It localises the global attack of the Wells’ novel entirely in the Kilkenny / Carlow region, as a variety of different narrators take us through an account of the fateful 3 week period where alien tripods laid waste to the world with their laser beams and earth choking red weed.
This hour long performance of HG Wells ‘War of the Worlds’ will air exclusively on KCLR 96fm on October 30th at 9pm. Listeners will also be able to stream the broadcast through www.kclr96fm.com.
Stay tuned into www.devioustheatre.com for more updates along with behind-the-scenes videos and photos from the production.
